

Avra Banerjee is a seasoned Indian classical musician with many years of training. A composer and sarod player, he specializes in World music and has collaborated with musicians from the USA, Europe, India, and Australia. To date, Avra has released over 65 singles and has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards and nominations, including the InterContinental Music Awards, Global Music Awards, Clef Music Award, West Australian Music Industry Award (WAM), World Entertainment Awards, ArtistAloud Hungama India Music Award, IRAA Award, Jaipur International Film Festivals, Cannes World Film Festival, Mumbai International Music Festivals, OneEarth Award Festival Award in categories such as World, Fusion, and Instrumental music. Avra has also received recent nomination for the 2026 Asia Pacific Arts Awards (Inspire – Individuals, Groups, Collectives), presented by Creative Australia, the Australian Government’s principal arts funding and advisory body.
Avra has been featured and interviewed, and his work reviewed, by leading international publications including CEO Times, Songlines (UK), Rolling Stone Magazine, Artist Highlights, Illustrate Magazine, The Times of India, AP News, World Music Central, Music Review World, and Musicians Today etc.
He is the founder of two World music bands, "Ragamorphism" in India and "SwaraSynthesis" in Australia, where he performs, composes, and arranges music. Avra’s diverse body of work spans multiple genres, including World music, Indian classical, Fusion, Rock & Pop, Ghazals, and Sufi music. His compositions include both instrumental and vocal pieces in several languages, such as Hindi, Urdu, English, and Bengali.
Avra is an active voting member of The Recording Academy, where he contributes and engages with the wider Grammy community through advocacy, education, and mentorship initiatives that support and advance the global music industry.
Avra describes music as an art form rather than mere entertainment, which drives him to create compositions that are intricate and musically challenging, yet melodious and contemplative for the listener. He frequently experiments with multimodal melodies and unconventional rhythmic patterns in his work.
Based in Perth, Australia, Avra successfully balances a thriving music career with a senior leadership role in Information Technology.
