Artistic Journey: Amitav began performing at the age of four and became an A Grade artist with Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar from an early age. After establishing his musical foundations in Bangladesh, he continued his artistic journey internationally and is now an active performer in Perth’s multicultural music scene.

Training & Tradition / Gurus & Mentors: Amitav’s first guru was his mother. He later trained in Hindustani Classical Music under the late Ustad Akhtar Sadmani, a disciple of Ustad Amir Khan of the Indore Gharana.

Releases / Recorded Work: More than 20 releases in Bangla, Hindi and Urdu. In 2005, his Bangladesh-based Rock Fusion band *Jaatishshor* released a full-length album. His recorded work also includes original compositions and collaborative projects, including a contribution to the award-winning Ghazal and Sufi album *Suron Ki Sayen*.

Awards & Recognition: Multiple awards in Nazrul Geeti and Bangla Folk during his early performing years in Bangladesh. In Australia, he has developed a strong following for his Ghazal performances and is affectionately known among audiences as the “Jagjit Singh of Australia.”
