  • Primary Art Form / Instrument: Vocalist specialising in Hindustani Classical and Semi-Classical music, Thumri, Western Classical/Opera, Jazz and Contemporary music, as well as Bangla Folk, Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti.

  • Artistic Journey: Introduced to music from a very young age and raised in a family of musicians, she received early encouragement and recognition for her singing. Her musical journey has developed across Indian and Western traditions, combining classical foundations with contemporary vocal approaches and a strong interest in aural musicianship.

  • Training & Tradition / Gurus & Mentors:Her early musical development was guided by Srimati Debjani Basu in Indian Classical and Contemporary music. She later trained in Hindustani Classical and Folk music under her guru, the late Sri Rabin De. In Australia, she received further musical training through the specialist music program at Churchlands Senior High School, working with multiple teachers across Western Classical/Opera, Jazz, Contemporary music and aural musicianship. Her development was further supported through guidance and collaborations with Mr Avra Banerjee.

  • Family / Artistic Heritage: Coming from a family of musicians, music was an integral part of her upbringing. Singing from an early age provided the foundation for her lifelong engagement with vocal music and her interest in exploring diverse musical traditions.

  • Genres / Artistic Styles: Hindustani Classical, Semi-Classical, Thumri, Western Classical/Opera, Jazz, Contemporary, Bangla Folk, Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti.

  • Performance Style: Expressive and versatile, with an emphasis on vocal tone, melodic interpretation, musicality and emotional connection. Her style draws on the ornamentation and improvisational qualities of Indian music while incorporating influences from Western vocal traditions.

  • Collaborations: She was part of the 2012 Churchlands Senior High School Music Tour, performing across Ireland, Belgium and France. She has also performed and recorded with Perth-based Indo-jazz collective SwaraSynthesis, participating in cross-cultural and contemporary musical projects.

  • Releases / Recorded Work: Recorded and released few Hindi and English songs, composed by Avra Banerjee, which are available on major digital music platforms.

  • Ensembles / Organizations: Churchlands Senior High School Music Program; SwaraSynthesis, Perth-based Indo-jazz collective.

  • Artistic Approach / Philosophy: Her musical approach is grounded in attentive listening, vocal expression and respect for tradition, while remaining open to experimentation and cross-cultural collaboration. She is interested in exploring how different musical languages can complement one another while retaining their individual character.

  • Key Qualities / Interests: She is particularly interested in developing her skills in harmonium and piano to support vocal accompaniment, while continuing to strengthen aural musicianship and explore the relationship between Indian classical, folk and Western musical traditions.
